Sally Epstein
Chief Innovation Officer, Cambridge Consultants
Sally is a renowned innovation expert, leveraging her extensive deep tech knowledge to create transformative solutions. With a robust background in AI and deep tech, she has successfully led Cambridge Consultants’ deep tech incubator, driving investments in quantum technologies, human-machine understanding, and photonics. Sally is committed to pioneering new methodologies and advocating for talent diversity while steering strategic technology investments. Her vision is to utilize cutting-edge technologies to address complex global challenges and foster a sustainable future.
She holds a Mathematics degree from Oxford University and a PhD from King’s College London.
Dr Andrew Vickers
Chief Technical Officer, Capgemini Engineering
Andrew has 30 years of experience in leading edge international engineering. Building on a solid technical grounding in systems and software engineering in safety-critical environments, he has held a broad range of leadership roles at small team, country, and international scope across a broad range of functions. He is currently the Chief Technical Officer with responsibility for the application of Artificial Intelligence as applied to Engineering Research and Development. He holds Masters and Doctoral degrees from the University of York, is a Chartered and European Engineer, and a Fellow of both the British Computer Society and the Institute of Engineering and Technology.
Sam Rose OBE
Sam Rose is the Director for Data and Advanced Analytics, and Head of Profession for OR and Data Science at the Department for Transport.
As a senior leader working in AI, Data Science and Operational Research in the UK Government she has led various award-winning teams and programmes delivering decision support to military operations, Brexit planning and the COVID response.
She currently leads an innovative cross functional team working to ensure transport data is valued, accessible and at the heart of decision making, and to embed the use of AI to drive efficiencies and support the DfT’s strategic priorities.
Dr Mike Briggs
Director of Data Science and AI, Rail Safety and Standards Board
Mike leads a team delivering innovative, data-driven solutions to long-standing challenges in the rail industry, helping shift decision-making from traditional engineering judgment to evidence-based approaches. Recent solutions include a tool to determine the safest train speeds during extreme weather, and a predictive maintenance application. He has a particular interest in how people interact with technology—an area undergoing rapid transformation with the rise of foundation models and advanced AI frameworks. Mike is pioneering the development of agentic solutions for knowledge management within RSSB and across the wider industry. Mike is named on four patents, and holds a PhD from the University of Edinburgh where he worked on the James Webb Space Telescope.
